“The idea that ‘massage must be painful’ is old and false. The grasp of the hand must be gentle and sympathetic, yet sufficient in firmness. Only by repeated practice can one judge the right amount of pressure.” - Max Bohn, MD Berlin, Germany 1920.
Long has passed the idea that deep painful kneading and muscle stripping are the only way to cause change in the body. My philosophy is that less is more. I want to create change within the body, movement of fluids, opening restrictions in a gentle, yet specific way. Pressure is directed and applied to targeted areas as necessary. I want to promote and enhance the body’s own natural healing process. My goal is to avoid causing additional inflammation and pain.
Your treatment session utilizes multiple modalities to address your goals. I guide you on treatment options and plans based on my assessment and therapeutic massage expertise.
Modalities used include Swedish, PNF stretching, trigger point therapy, cupping, scar tissue release and myofascial release. The Massage Goal is to open and release areas of tension, encourage deep breathing, facilitate the release of "knots" and restrictions within the muscle or joint. I will match pace and pressure with your body’s response to therapy.
